Di serie sicuramente no! Dev'essere una personalizzazione fatta fare su misura da un customizer dal proprietario, probabilmente di recente...per? interessante, non l'avevo vista nemmeno io! Ogni giorno se ne scopre sempre una nuova! <img src="https://www.usacarsforum.it/forum/images/smilies/confused.png" alt="Confused" title="Confused" class="smilie smilie_13" />choiked:

1965 FORD MUSTANG, A MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE RETRACTABLE HARDTOP. FEW HAVE EVER HEARD OF ONE, MUCH LESS EVER SEE ONE. IN 1965, FORD DECIDED TO BUILD A RETRACTABLE MUSTANG FOR THE 1967 MODEL YEAR. BEN J. SMITH, THE ORIGINAL DESIGNER OF THE 57,58 AND 59 FORD RETRACTABLES, WAS GIVEN THE DESIGN TASK. ONLY ONE WAS BUILT AND BECAUSE THE TOP HAD TO BE MANUAL BECAUSE OF THE ADDED WEIGHT FOR A MUSTANG, FORD DECIDED TO DROP THE PROJECT. YOU WILL NOTICE FROM THE REAR OF THIS VEHICLE THE INFLUENCE FROM HIS TIME SPENT IN DESIGN WITH THE CONTINENTAL DIVISION AND THE DESIGN OF THE MARK 111 LINCOLN. A MUSTANG RETRACTABLE WAS ALWAYS ON BENS MIND AND HE GOT TOGETHER A GROUP OF INVESTORS AND FORMED A COMPANY TO CREATE A CONCEPT DESIGN TO DUPLICATE HIS 1965 CREATION. WE ARE ONLY AWARE OF A HANDFULL WITH THE SMITH DESIGN. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF WORK INVOLVED TO BUILD THIS MUSTANG RETRACTABLE AS THE MUSTANG HAD TO BE COMPLETLY DISMANTLED AND A COMPLETE GROUND UP RESTORATION BECAUSE OF THE ADDITION OF STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENTS THAT HAVE TO BE WELDED INTO PLACE UNDER THE CAR, INSIDE THE CAR AND IN THE TRUNK AREA BEFORE THE TOP WAS CUT AND THE ADDITION OF THE NEW TRUNK THAT IS 3\" LONGER. THIS TRANSFORMATION TOOK ALMOST ONE YEAR AND WAS NO DOUBT THE REASON WHY THIS PROJECT NEVER TOOK OFF. THIS CAR IS BEAUTIFUL ! THIS SHOW QUALITY 1965 MUSTANG FEATURES A 289 V8 ENGINE THAT HAS LESS THAN 200 MILES SINCE REBUILT,RARE POWER STEERING, AN INTERIOR THAT IS AS NEW, EXCELLENT PAINT, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND VERY LOW ORIGINAL MILES. IT DRIVES AND HANDLES GREAT. BEN HAS ALSO AUTOGRAPHED THE GLOVE BOX. IT TAKES ONE PERSON LESS THAN 1 MINUTE TO FOLD THE TOP INTO THE TRUNK AND TURN THE CAR INTO A CONVERTIBLE OR TO RESTORE IT AS A HARDTOP. ON A FEW OCCASIONS WHEN WE SHOWED THIS CAR, YOU HAD TO FIGHT OFF THE CROWDS. CONSIDER THIS A CONCEPT CAR AND THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT THIS CAR WOULD BRING AT BARRETT-JACKSON WHERE A CONCEPT CAR BRINGS MEDIUM SIX FIGURES OR EVEN IN THE MILLIONS. WE ARE ASKING ONLY $99,500 OFFERS AND INTERESTING TRADES CONSIDERED.COME SEE IT AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED. TO SEE PICS GO TO Dlsclassicmuscle

Mi son risposto da solo:

"The Mustang was to be a 1967 model but when Ben reported back to Ford that it was not feasible to motorize the top because of added weight like he did in the Skyliner the project was cancelled and the prototype was destroyed.

Ben never gave up on the idea of a Mustang retractable hardtop and after he retired he designed and built one for himself. He then formed the Retractables Unlimited company in 1994 to market the retractable hardtops for 1965 to 1968 Mustangs. From what I have read all over the net and in books only about 10-15 original Ben J Smith retractable hardtops exist today this possibly being one of them. After the originals were built the company soon went out of business."
